About this piece
Most of the metal world exists in shades of gray, silver, and rust, so when this figure discovered that pigment could be made from ground mineral dust and water, it changed something in him permanently. He set up his easel and never really stopped working, painting the same small red shape over and over — a shape none of the other Wiremen recognized at first, but eventually came to understand as a heart. This handcrafted wire art piece shows him standing beside a small wire easel that holds a tiny clear panel marked with red brushstrokes forming that same recognizable shape. His body is bent from fine silver wire with a dark rounded head tilted slightly, as though studying his own work. The whole scene rests on a round wood base sized for a windowsill, bookshelf, or studio table. Because each figure and its accompanying props are shaped entirely by hand, this is a true one-of-a-kind wire sculpture, distinct from any casting-based figurine. It's a natural fit for artists, art students, or anyone who keeps a creative space at home. As a collectible wire figurine with real narrative behind it, this handmade metal figurine makes an especially fitting unique wire art gift for Valentine's Day, anniversaries, or any occasion centered on love.
