About this piece
There are no oceans on the metal world, but there are wind currents that roll across the open plains like waves, and this figure learned to ride them standing sideways on a thin plate of scrap metal, arms out for balance, knees bent low. The younger Wiremen thought he was showing off. He probably was. This handcrafted wire art piece captures that exact crouched, balanced stance, rendered in bright silver wire bent into a low center of gravity with both arms extended for counterbalance. He stands on a small board-shaped base mounted to a dark rectangular wood plinth, giving the whole piece a sense of motion even at rest. The tension in his knees and the tilt of his shoulders were shaped entirely by hand, without any casting process, so the balance in this pose is unique to this single figure — a genuine one-of-a-kind wire sculpture rather than a repeated mold. It suits a beach house shelf, a coastal-themed room, or simply a desk that could use a little movement. As a collectible wire figurine, this handmade metal figurine works well as a unique wire art gift for surfers, skaters, or anyone who chases balance for fun.
